I am in my late 60s, fit, healthy, active and still working. However over the last 4 years, my quality of life had declined significantly with a daily impact on my physical and social health. Following successful surgery by Mr Simon Jackson in May 2021, I made a remarkable recovery, my life has changed and I can now lead a happy and normal life. His explanations, professionalism and skill as a surgeon were reassuring and I would recommend him to anyone who is suffering with a condition that although not life threatening, may be life limiting. Thank you Mr Jackson!

I went to see Mr Simon Jackson at the start of 2015 as i had a vaginal prolapse after giving birth the year before. I had been told by another doctor that i needed a hysterectomy and was my only option. I was not happy with this and wanted a different opinion. Mr Jackson listened carefully and was sympathetic to my concerns in wanting my life back to normal. he recommended a keyhole surgery that lifted and supported my prolapse (not the horrid common mesh we've heard about!) and was thorough in his explanations and listened to my questions. I had my surgery in the July and spent 3 days in hospital. He was very reassuring on the morning of my operation and came each day to check on me while i was in hospital. My husband and i were extremely pleased with his service and his team. I am 95% better than i was thanks to Mr Simon Jackson.

From the moment that Mr Jackson introduced himself to the point of discharge from the hospital, it felt like he had as much time to discuss anything related to the operation. He explained everything fully, both the pros and the cons of the operation and ensured that we understood all that had been discussed. Also, took the time to explain that for any reason the primary operation would not be viable, the options that would be available and if these should/could be undertaken. On the morning of the operation, he again visited to check that everything was ok, explaining the procedure again and what would be required afterwards, care wise. We found him to be very empathetic and approachable. Any question that we asked were fully explained and he took his time ensuring that we were content at all stages. Would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.

There's much I'd like to write in review of Simon Jackson, 'consultant gynaecologist'. More often than not, I'll try and balance any negative remarks with positive ones as well. This review is an unfortunate exception, as I can find nothing good to say about this man. When my wife was under his care, we both placed or utmost trust in his experience, skills and judgement. My wife had developed minor stress incontinence and Mr Jackson recommended TVT surgery. As she lay in her hospital bed, pre-operation, Simon Jackson sat on her bed and suggested he could perform some extra surgery to correct a minor prolapse as well. Whilst trying to persuade my wife that it would be a good thing 'just a tuck and a stitch', he placed his hand on her knee and patted it!! This at was totally inappropriate and completely unprofessional. This alarmed my wife as well and she immediately refused the extra surgery. This actually turned out to be a wise decision, as she was informed recently by a very experienced and respected gynaecologist, that she probably had never needed surgery or the years of internal erosions caused by the mesh /tape to her internal organs.
